The classic Vietnamese phin for bold coffee at home

A Vietnamese phin does not need to be complicated. This lightweight aluminium phin is made for slow-drip coffee, strong Robusta, and proper cΓ  phΓͺ sα»―a Δ‘Γ‘ without a coffee machine.

Why aluminium

Heats quickly

Aluminium warms up fast, helping the phin brew consistently without needing a bulky coffee machine or special equipment.

Vietnamese style

Light, simple, familiar

This is the everyday phin style many Vietnamese coffee drinkers know: practical, lightweight, and easy to use at home.

Best with Robusta

Built for bold flavour

Pair it with phin-ground Vietnamese coffee for a slow-drip cup that is strong enough to stand up to condensed milk and ice.

Why use an aluminium phin?
Aluminium phins are lightweight, traditional, and heat up quickly. They are a simple way to make strong Vietnamese coffee at home without an espresso machine.
Is aluminium or stainless steel better for Vietnamese coffee?
Both can work, but aluminium is the classic everyday choice for Vietnamese phin coffee. It is light, easy to handle, and gives that familiar Vietnamese coffee experience.
Do I need a coffee machine?
No. You only need phin-ground coffee, hot water, a cup, condensed milk and ice if you are making cΓ  phΓͺ sα»―a Δ‘Γ‘.
What grind size should I use?
Choose Phin Ground for the easiest brew. If the coffee is too fine, the drip can be too slow. If it is too coarse, the coffee may taste weak.
Can I make iced Vietnamese coffee with this?
Yes. Brew the coffee slowly over condensed milk, stir well, then pour over ice for a classic cΓ  phΓͺ sα»―a Δ‘Γ‘.
How do I clean the phin?
Rinse after each use with warm water and let it dry fully before storing. Avoid leaving used coffee grounds sitting in the phin for too long.
Beginner tip: For a stronger cup, use around 20-25g of phin-ground coffee and let the bloom sit for 30–45 seconds before filling the phin with hot water.
